Amatrol Turbine Nacelle Troubleshooting
Amatrol’s 950-TNC1 Turbine Electric Hub Troubleshooting Learning System allows students to learn the skills required for wind turbine operation, adjustment, and troubleshooting.
Amatrol’s FaultPro computer-based fault insertion software is the industry’s only electronic troubleshooting training system. FaultPro allows instructors to set instantly and tailor faults to test a student’s weaknesses and turn them into strengths. The troubleshooting skills taught by FaultPro allow students to solve real-world problems they’ll encounter on the job. FaultPro inserts electronic faults safely, protecting both students and equipment from incurring any damage.
FaultPro allows users to insert electronic faults into more than two dozen training systems spanning seven different technologies for realistic troubleshooting of situations they will encounter on the job. The faults used by FaultPro are electronically-controlled circuits located in the hardware of Amatrol’s troubleshooting training systems. When inactive, the circuits allow the systems to operate normally.
When activated by FaultPro, however, the circuits insert “failures” into the system, preventing it from operating properly and allowing students to experience a realistic troubleshooting scenario with real-world equipment. Each of Amatrol’s training systems with FaultPro features an in-depth curriculum that uses electronic faults as teaching points, identifying the symptoms that characterize each fault and teaching the troubleshooting procedures to pinpoint component failures.
FaultPro is a Windows-based software package that consists of student software, instructor software, and a central database. Students can set up and perform their troubleshooting exercises for either practice or testing sessions by choosing specific faults or activating random fault mode to allow the computer to select faults automatically.
Instructors can give students a customized learning experience by using predefined fault templates or creating their own specialized templates for troubleshooting exercises and tests. They can also generate statistics and reports by students or classes to assess performance and manage classes. The central database uses Microsoft SQL Server technology to record data from multiple users, including faults mastered, total time spent on each fault, and the number of tries needed to master each fault. It also stores fault templates, grading rubrics, and class rosters.
FaultPro allows instructors to customize grading rubrics using two grading methods: numeric grading and mastery grading. Numeric grading will provide a 0-4 scale based on the number of tries and the time a student takes to troubleshoot a fault. Mastery grading is a pass/fail option based on the number of tries a student attempts on a fault.
FaultPro comes standard with more than two dozen Amatrol training systems spanning seven different technologies:
Amatrol’s 950-TNC1 Turbine Electric Hub Troubleshooting Learning System allows students to learn the skills required for wind turbine operation, adjustment, and troubleshooting.
The 990-PAB53AF Portable PLC Troubleshooting Learning System provides a comprehensive curriculum and a cutting-edge workstation to teach PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, operation, and applications used in industry. The 990-PAB53AF uses FaultPro, Amatrol’s unique electronic fault insertion, to teach PLC troubleshooting skills, such as PLC input and output testing, software testing, and application troubleshooting. Learners study both basic and advanced applications using Allen-Bradley’s L16ER CompactLogix 5300 PLC, PanelView Plus, and networking throughout the curriculum.
The 85-MT2E includes a motor connection box to practice hands-on skills such as troubleshooting faults in a DC motor and AC single-phase and three-phase motors, evaluating DC electric motor commutator and brush health, and using a multimeter to test an AC motor start/run capacitor. Amatrol’s learning systems feature real-world, industry-grade components for durability that will stand up to frequent use and to allow learners to gain real-world competencies.
